There's a house on the next street over that has a late Saab 9-5.

Kinja'd!!!

I haven't a clue what trim level it is, but it's black and has smaller wheels.

Pretty good looking car in person, I must say.

I've never actually seen the interior of the 9-5, but wow.

Kinja'd!!!

They did a good job of hiding the GM parts-bin bits and pieces.

Is that not one of the most beautiful asses ever put on a car?

There's a story attached to these. The 9 5 Combi was never type approved as a production vehicle. When Saab stopped trading and the assets were auctioned off a couple of dozen pre production prototypes of the Combi were sold on the understanding that they could not be used on the road. The various mainly Nordic buyers then moved heaven and earth to get them registered which involved having them treated as vehicles of historic importance (worked for Norway) or for buyers in the EU taking them to Germany where the authorities would individually approve cars if you happened to get the right person on the day. Armed with your German approval and assuming you didn't actually already live in Germany you could then take your car home on temporary German plates and persuade your local authorities to register your car on the grounds that it had been approved in an EU country. Interestingly the Swedes turned out to be the most resistant to this stratagem and Swedish buyers had to go through months of excruciating dealings with bureaucrats to get their purchases on the road.

It's a beautiful wagon, but not worth all that hassle to get on the road.

Just today I saw the ONLY, and I do mean ONLY Saab from 2007 and up. It looked exactly like this:
